China Unicom announced a major milestone as it officially clinched an exclusive three-year agreement on August 28, 2009 to launch Apple's iPhone.

U.S. iPhone users may get to start choosing their carrier in 2010, according to Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster. He expects Apple will end its exclusive deal with AT&T by next summer and start offering the iPhone through multiple carriers, just as it does in several other countries.

Regardless of its actual market share, Apple all but commands use at Wi-Fi hotspots in cafes and coffee shops in the US, according to new data from JiWire. InfoWorld - Microsoft is offering an open-source software development kit linking the company's Bing search engine to Apple's iPhone and Mac systems, according to a Bing community blog post on Thursday.
