Paul Kedrosky submits: Okay, Apple's iPhone isn't delayed, contrary to Engadget's market-moving retracted story Wednesday morning. The incorrect news whacked Apple's stock, taking it down almost 3% on what now seems to been a spoofed email somehow inserted into Apple's internal email system.

Apple's stock plunged over two percent Wednesday after technology news blog Engadget posted an unsubstantiated rumor claiming that both the iPhone and Leopard had been delayed.

Germany-based T-Mobile may become the iPhone's official carrier for Europe, according to those close to the negotiations. Although it had previously been suggested that Vodafone would win -- an implication the carrier publically denied -- it's now believed that its rival at T-Mobile is favored as the sole outlet for iPhone sales in the continent. ...

The race to win the contract as the exclusive iPhone distributor in Europe is well underway, and it appears that T-Mobile is at the top of the short list. The field looks to have been narrowed down to T-Mobile and Vodafone, but the iPhone may be a better fit with T-Mobile
