Carl Howe submits: MacRumors.com notes that Canadian mobile phone carrier Rogers claims Apple is prohibiting it from subsidizing the $499/$599 price of the iPhone. What does that mean?

Apple has signed up Rogers Wireless as its exclusive iPhone partner in Canada. The company is presently meeting with European network operators to try to fix a single deal to cover this region.
